Stephen John 2012 Watervale Riesling
 Estate grown Watervale Riesling

Watervale is a small sub region at the southern end of the Clare Valley. A region that is recognized for producing some of the finest Rieslings in the country and arguably in the world.

Produced from 100% Riesling fruit, grown in the heart of Watervale at an altitude of 500 metres.

The vines are in excess of 35 years of age with one of the blocks being planted in 1926 – arguably one of the oldest Riesling vineyards in the district.

The fruit was hand picked and produced with the latest technology available, resulting in a classic, dry, aromatic style.

The 2012 Rieslings from Watervale are recognized as the best for a decade. A classic year

Stephen John The Loquat Tree
Stephen John 2010 The Loquat Tree Mouvedre Shiraz

Produced from 73% Mourvedre and 27% Shiraz grown in the Clare Valley of South Australia

Mourvedre (or mataro) was one of the pioneer grapes to South Australia, being used for the production of fortified wines and dry red wines. It is however not widely grown in the Clare Valley, as traditionally it was planted in the warmer districts for fortified wine.

It is now being recognized as a premium table wine variety, to be enjoyed in its youth as a fresh savoury style with soft tannins and spicy fruit. We have enhanced the Mourvedre with the addition of 27% Shiraz to give further depth and fleshy fruit characters to the wine.
